We are so many things...

Lainie Magidsohn is a woman, a mother, a partner, a sister, a daughter, an aunt. She is a cultural and sexual minority. She is a dancer, a mover, a creative being. She is a listener, a counselor…a member of community

Lainie received a Master's degree from The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto in the department of Adult Education, Community Development and Counselling Psychology. Her work there included courses on feminist counselling, women's health, and adult learning. Lainie's work experience has included supportive counselling in the areas of reproductive and sexual health. She has been a prenatal educator and a doula, and has also facilitated support groups for new mothers.

Lainie has danced since she could walk, studying ballet, modern and jazz dance, and performing with “Village Folk”, an international folk dance group. She graduated from The Nia Technique body•mind intensive training for professionals in the fitness, health and wellness field. She is a certified Blue Belt Nia teacher, teaching people of all ages, genders, body types and fitness levels.

Lainie brings to her work an analysis of gender & marginality which is derived, in part, from her lived experience. Using a client-centred approach and a feminist, anti-oppression perspective, Lainie uses her own experiences as well as her personal strength, sensitivity, humour and intuition to support you on your journey of growth and healing. She sees both her work as a Nia instructor and as a counsellor, as an opportunity to learn more about our lives, our bodies, our relationships, and our ability to be fully ourselves
